Hassen in Rome (Italy)

Created by Ida 14 years ago
After holidaying in the roman riviera, we went back to Rome to spend some time with my wife's aunties. We also visited a roman lady journalist (my wife's cousin) based in Trastevere, the quaintest quarter district of Rome. Cobbled streets plenty of craftsmen shops, souvenir shops and art-house cinemas. Being a hot summer, while walking, it was so helpful to find little fountains of fresh running water everywhere and help ourselves to drink plenty of it. On Sunday we took a long walk to Porta Portese, a huge open market where they sell all sort of new and second hand vintage items. It was packed with people from everywhere. We had a good time in Rome and visited places of great interest. Such as Piazza Navona, the Colosseum and Piazza di Spagna. From the Porta Pinciana we walked through the wonderful Pincio gardens to reach the Borghese museum. We were dazzled by the beauty of the Canova's statue of Paolina Bonaparte there. As indeed by other stunning baroque sculptures of Bernini. To complete our marvel and wonder we add to our tour a visit to Piazza San Pietro. We were greatly taken by the splendour and grandeur of St. Peter Church and the Sistine Chapel. That was indeed a holiday to remember for many years to come. (From Hassen's diary)
